A new project has emerged from Facebook and is an exclusive app where you can make calls with more than two people at once.
Although nowadays most of the communication between friends and family is focused on video calls; Facebook has put a lot of effort in CatchUp, a new application that focuses on voice calls with up to 8 people, perfect for those who prefer to have phone conversations and are not yet ready for video calls.
CatchUp aims to facilitate voice calls and show when a contact is available to make them; this through a list of friends and family that will be shown as active or inactive and notifications of "Available" status, as used to happen in the old Messenger. A list that will be synchronized with the contacts saved in the phone or with Facebook friends.
Among other qualities of CatchUp is that you do not need a Facebook account to access it, and also manages to connect with up to 8 people to share the same voice call, with the ability to create and join groups of family and friends.
For now, Facebook CatchUp is only available in the United States, in either the Android or iOS version, in a "trial mode", so users can start using it, send their comments and the app's developers can work on improvements and it can be launched worldwide.
It is said that this idea arose long before the contingency and began to be developed by an internal Facebook group, but due to the situation, the company set to work on Facebook Messenger Rooms to make video calls with up to 50 people. But, having already launched the latter, it is now the turn of CatchUp, which could also be integrated into WhatsApp and Instagram as Rooms.
Now there will be two Facebook options to always be in touch. And tell us, do you prefer video calls or voice calls?
