El confinamiento debido a la pandemia de coronavirus ha dejado ventas notables en GTA V.
La Entertainment Retailers Association, conocida también como ERA,
ha publicado los números de ventas comprendidos entre el 23 de marzo y el 13 de
junio, fechas en las que el confinamiento debido a la pandemia
de coronavirus ha estado presente. Estas cifras han mostrado
que el mercado de videojuegos ha vendido en grandes cantidades.
Por un lado ha
mostrado que los productos de entretenimiento más vendidos han sido
películas: Star Wars
Episodio IX: El Ascenso de Skywalker primero con 637.484 copias
vendidas, seguido de Frozen 2 con
541.783. Pero en cuanto a videojuegos, estos han dominado y eclipsado
a todo lo demás; en el top 40 hay 21 juegos, 16 películas y tres álbumes.
FIFA 20 fue
el juego más vendido en UK durante el confinamiento, con
506.572 copias vendidas, seguido de Call of Duty:
Modern Warfare con 474.902. Pero GTA V sigue muy
fuerte, y con cero síntomas de bajar el ritmo, ya que el juego de
Rockstar ha vendido 438.902 copias solo en UK.
A fecha de agosto de 2020, GTA V lleva vendidas más de 135 millones de copias en todo
el mundo a través de
las plataformas en las que está disponible. Merece la pena mencionar que ERA recopila ventas en físico y en digital, aunque no todos
los editores comparten sus datos de venta en digital, ya que Nintendo y Bethesda no lo hacen; quizá por esto Animal Crossing New Horizons está en el puesto 11 con 206.069 copias vendidas.

On the one hand it has shown that the most sold entertainment products have been movies: Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker first with 637,484 copies sold, followed by Frozen 2 with 541,783.
