Dentro de muy poco, Nintendo Switch cumplirá tres años y medio de vida. En cualquier consola, eso suele suponer la mitad de su ciclo de vida (y eso cuando las cosas van bien). Y las cosas le van muy bien a Nintendo: las ventas no ha frenado desde su lanzamiento, si acaso solo van en aumento: ya lleva 61 millones vendidas, gracias al impulso que ha tenido el sector en cuanto a ventas durante la pandemia, y a la influencia de Animal Crossing New Horizons.
Sin embargo, en cuanto a juegos, 2020 está siendo un año extraño. A pesar del exitazo de Animal Crossing, el ritmo de lanzamientos ha sido mucho menor que otros años... y el panorama para este final de año (en el que competirá con las consolas de nueva generación, PS5 y Xbox Series X) es aún más incierto: solo Pikmin 3 Deluxe tiene fecha clara (30 de octubre).
Sí, sus juegos insignia (Animal Crossing, Mario Kart 8, Smash Bros, Pokémon Espada y Escudo, Zelda Breath of the Wild y Super Mario Odyssey) siguen vendiendo a espuertas (todos estos se sitúan por encima de los 18 millones de unidades vendidas, cosa que es casi inédita en cuanto a juegos exclusivos). Sin embargo, los fans (y los nuevos compradores) quieren algo nuevo. Y puede que muy pronto lo tengan.
Y es que han sido varios los medios que dan por hecho que Nintendo lanzará un nuevo modelo de Switch a principios de 2021. Esta "New Switch" podría tener más potencia, incluso gráficos en 4K... y lo mejor es que vendría acompañada de un buen catálogo de juegos que darían nueva vida a la consola. Salgan donde salgan, los siguientes serán los que marquen el corto-medio plazo de la consola...
