A todos nos ha sucedido. Descargamos WhatsApp, comenzamos a ser más sociales y productivos. Viejos amigos, compañeros de trabajo y familiares nos agregan a grupos que silenciamos por años. Pero esos chats poco a poco van saturando la memoria de nuestro smartphone.
Luego sucede el momento más temido y generalmente inesperado. Cuando nos llega la notificación de que queda poco espacio en nuestro dispositivo y nos percatamos que buena parte de la culpa de ello lo tiene WhatsApp. Con todos aquellos videos, fotos y memes que nunca abrimos pero sí se descargaron.
El problema mayor viene cuando intentas liberar espacio desde la app para descubrir que el gestor es burdo y complicado. Pero eso está por cambiar afortunadamente.
WhatsApp oye tus plegarias
Si has intentado liberar espacio desde WhatsApp habrás encontrado que, por algún motivo, la interfaz que describe la distribución de contenidos trabaja sobre una lógica de bloques por contactos.
Donde nos marca qué chats y contactos son los que han demandado mayor cantidad de espacio en nuestra memoria interna.
Pero la limpieza es masiva, esto quiere decir que podemos eliminar todo el contenido del chat, pero si deseamos mantener alguna imagen o archivo eso era imposible. Hasta ahora.
Igual que en las versiones previas será necesario ir al apartado de Ajustes –> Datos y Almacenamiento –> Uso de Almacenamiento.
Pero al llegar a esa última ventana veremos que las cosas han cambiado, ya que será posible eliminar por lotes como antes, o elegir en concreto qué imágenes, documentos, archivos o videos se borrarán de nuestro dispositivo.
La actualización que hará posible este cambio está siendo liberada de manera escalonada. Así que es sólo cuestión de paciencia para recibir la mejora.

WhatsApp hears your prayers
If you have tried to free up space from WhatsApp you will have found that, for some reason, the interface that describes the distribution of content works on a logic of blocks by contacts.
Where we mark which chats and contacts are those that have demanded more space in our internal memory.
But the cleaning is massive, this means that we can remove all the content of the chat, but if we want to keep some image or file that was impossible. Until now.
As in previous versions it will be necessary to go to the section Settings -> Data and Storage -> Storage Usage.
But when you get to that last window you will see that things have changed, since it will be possible to delete in batches as before, or choose specifically which images, documents, files or videos will be deleted from your device.
The update that will make this change possible is being released in stages. So it is only a matter of patience to receive the upgrade.
