Usuarios de iPhone y de iPad están preocupados por el significativo consumo de la batería que han notado en sus dispositivos tras descargar la actualización iOS 14.2 y iPadOS 14.2, respectivamente. Varios mensajes casi idénticos por su contenido aparecieron en los Foros de Desarrolladores de Apple (Apple Developer Forums) y Reddit.
En ellos abundan los comentarios de quienes se quejan de la pérdida de más del 50 % de la carga de sus dispositivos en menos de 30 minutos, de caídas de un 5 % en unos minutos de uso habitual, así como del aumento significativo de los periodos de carga.
"He actualizado mi iPhone 7+ a iOS 14.2 y ahora tengo un problema de descarga de la batería, lleva mucho tiempo cargarlo y se calienta durante la carga", escribió un usuario.
"Lo mismo pasa con mi XS Max. Tengo que cargar el teléfono al menos 5 veces al día", dice otro.
Se cree que estos fallos se deben a un error en el software, ya que la mayoría de los usuarios observan un alto porcentaje de duración de la batería antes de producirse una caída brusca. Asimismo, notan un aumento repentino de la duración de la batería tras reiniciar su dispositivo.
El problema parece afectar a los modelos antiguos de iPhone como 6S, 7, SE o XS y también el modelo de iPad PRO 2018. Nada se reporta sobre si estos problemas aparecen también en los modelos 11 o 12.
Tampoco hay información acerca de si la disfunción de la batería se solucionó en la actualización iOS 14.2.1, aunque se espera que en el tercer desarrollador y en las betas públicas de iOS 14.3 y iPadOS 14.3, recién lanzados, Apple logre solucionar el problema.

These failures are believed to be due to a bug in the software, as most users observe a high percentage of battery life before a sudden drop occurs. They also notice a sudden increase in battery life after restarting their device.
The problem seems to affect older iPhone models like 6S, 7, SE or XS and also the iPad PRO 2018 model. Nothing is reported on whether these problems also appear on the 11 or 12 models.
There is also no information on whether the battery dysfunction was fixed in the iOS 14.2.1 update, although it is expected that in the third developer and in the newly released iOS 14.3 and iPadOS 14.3 public betas, Apple will be able to fix the problem.
